Avoncroft 1940s Weekend 26/27th july 2008
A Message of Thanks
On behalf of the organizing team, I Would like to thank all 270+ Re-Enactors,MVT and classic car owners for the absolutely magnificent weekend you all helped us put on.
The Weather was just right. The battles were watched by hundreds of visitors and were a credit to Mark,Steve and Craig and the troops put on a grand Display,Thank you all.
The Weddings were superbly arranged by Kathy, with Vicky the Bride for about the 28th time and Chico Doing his vicar resulted in a packed to overflowing Chapel.
The Air Raid organised by Teresa from forever forties, commentary by Graham, was another resounding success.
A Special thank you goes to Kevin who did a wonderful job and sang his heart out over both days keeping the public entertained.
The site full of Vehicles and the three encampments looked a treat.
But a special vote of thanks must also go to the Naffi tent area , after the problems with the sites tainted water supply on saturday and reverting to bottled water. Jenny and all her Helpers who kept every one fed and watered ,Many Thanks.
Well over 1000 Visitors (we estimate 1400, Very good for avoncroft), came along to enjoy the event .
I wont mention in this brief report all the other members of the WW2 historical Society,Forever Forties and Pick and Mix Groups who helped with setting up and run the event, but, believe me without them the event could not have run.
I Hope to have some pictures on my website in a day or two
So, once again, many thanks to you all for making the event such a success.
David Bowlas Chairman of the event committee.
