Who We Are
We are a friendly and enthusiastic group of people whose interest lies in the World War 2 Period, Be it the war itself, the uniforms and equipment, and life as it was in Britain, or merely the fashion, music and dance of the time. We have Monthly group Meetings held in the upstairs room of the Railway Belle Hotel, oppisite Kidderminster station every second wednesday of the Month from 8:00pm. All members welcome. Our events Calender runs from April until October,with training and social events beetween October and March, as well as our Christmas Party.
What we do
The society attends various functions throughout the year as a living history display team . We have various sections portraying both military and civilian groups and also life on the home front , We Have a batltle group who attend and participate in mock battles . We have various scenarios and displays to suit event organisers needs.
Some of our members like to assist our veterans by helping them out with the British Legion Poppy collection and the R A F A wings appeal.
We also have a number of members who carry out educational talks for schools.
What we can do for you ?
As a member of our society you will be able to attend various 1940s events throughout the country, as guests of the organisers, either as a living history display or as a battler, and you will have a chance to meet and get to know others with the same interests as yourself. You will recieve regular newsletters ,keeping you up to date with events and happenings within the group, as well as a wealth of experience in researching and seeking out authentic equipment and clothing of the period.
What we want from you!
We want enthusiastic people who are interested in the 1939-45 period,and who are willing to share their knowledge with others, we would expect you to assist other members with their displays, either helping to erect or dismantle equipment, or manning a display itself for a while to give others a break
We like to represent the 1940s as accurately as possible, therefore we expect members who attend events to dress appropriately. Advice on authenticity is freely available by contacting commitee members who will refer you to a suitable scource of information. Passes to events are only issued to members who are dressed in period costume. The main aim of the society is to enjoy our hobby whilst making new likeminded friends.
